Keynote: NICE would never condone the Bradford Hearts approach

The Bradford model

Chairs:
Speakers: ,

The Bradford Healthy Hearts project improved the management of hypertension, cholesterol and atrial fibrillation across the city. Part of that process involved local protocols written by members of the primary care, secondary care and public health communities. The project was successful and therefore should NICE promote this style of treatment? They never will and in this session we will explain why that is the case. We will look at the NICE rulebook, discuss the difference between guidance and protocols and see how we are doing in terms of the Health Survey of England data. We will also compare the Bradford Project and the Canadian model.
