Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) are a leading cause of mortality & disability in the UK and are largely preventable. In people without an existing diagnosis, the QResearch CVD risk algorithm (QRISK) employs a number of modifiable and non-modifiable risk factors to assess the individual’s ten-year likelihood of a heart attack or stroke. QRISK3 has superseded QRISK2, it includes additional risk factors and also allows for calculation of lifetime CV risk. QRISK3 is a valuable way of communicating that risk and helps people to make informed choices on lifestyle changes and the recommendation for primary prevention with statins. This session looks at the QRISK3 tool and how it can be applied in practice.
