Primary Care Cardiovascular lead, East Midlands Strategic Clinical Network

Dr Javaid qualified from Cambridge University and completed his GP VTS training in Northampton. He has an interest in cardiology and echocardiography and was a clinical lead in the Northamptonshire Community Cardiology service, which had a focus on patients with heart failure and valve disease. More recently he has become involved in a number of cardiology up-skilling projects within primary care in the East Midlands with the aim to improve the optimisation of patients with heart failure, atrial fibrillation and stable coronary disease and is passionate about ensuring that the best and current evidence is translated into frontline general practice. He is the primary care CVD lead for Nene CCG and the East Midlands Strategic Clinical Network and is tasked with addressing the unwarranted variation in cardiovascular related premature mortality seen across the region. He also is a council member of the British Heart Valve Society and on the editorial board for the British Journal of Cardiology.
